while sorting through my visual archive, i ran across an abstract color scheme that came about near by accident... after my computer and camera were stolen last year, i attempted to retrieve some of the lost work from secondary storage systems - some of which had already been written over. consequently, the basic structure of this image was generated by a data rescue program attempting to reassemble information from a corrupted photoshop file. after some additional tweaking, i ended up with this:
unintentional beauty. in this case, function IS the form.
presumably a viewer attuned to a different kind of visual language would be able to "see" in this data stream a portion of the original image which, by now, i've long forgotten.
what's even more arresting is the level of detail inside the image. i've posted cropped views here to show the various bits of colored data.
